desire

The HTC Desire is a smartphone developed by the HTC Corporation, announced on 16 February 2010 and released in Europe and Australia in the second quarter of the same year. The HTC Desire runs the Android operating system, version 2.2 "Froyo". Internally it bears a strong resemblance to the Nexus One, but differs in some features. The HTC Desire (running LeeDroid 3.3.3) is my current, and first Android phone. The Desire is a great phone, besides the fact that it has no way near enough internal memory. Below is a list of my posts relating to the HTC Desire.

Android App: Tasker

Tasker iconIf you decide to purchase a single application for you Android phone, let it be Tasker. Tasker is an application for Android which performs Tasks based on Contexts (application, time, date, location, event, gesture) in user-defined Profiles, or in clickable or timer home screen widgets. This simple concept profoundly extends your control of your Android device and it's capabilities, without the need for 'root' or a special home screen. Tasker can basically do anything you can images with your phone triggered by any trigger you can imagine.Read more »»

Nutshell case

When purchased my new Samsung Galaxy S2 I naturally also ordered a new handmade custom Nutshell case for it. It's currently in production so I'm hoping it will be here within a week or two. If you need a case or pouch for your smartphone, your GPS, your handheld, or any other gadget you own, you really should look into ordering a nutshell. These guys are amazing. They produce custom handmade pouches for you out of real leather.Read more »»

My new droid: Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2Earlier this week I purchased a new Samsung Galaxy S2 to replace my HTC Desire (Though I will keep my Desire as a backup phone for geocaching, gathering GSM network information and the likes). The main reason I needed to replace the Desire was its lack of internal memory. It simply didn't have enough memory for all of the applications I need.Read more »»

HTC Desire mass storage fail on Debian

TuxEver since I got my HTC Desire I've had trouble using it in mass storage mode on Debian. The problems occur booth on Squeeze and Lenny. Instead of showing up as /dev/sdx#, only the first partition of the memory card shows up, and it shows up as /dev/sdx. /dev/sdx can be mounted, and copying from the memory card works fine. Copying to the memory card doesn't work. It looks like everything is hunky dory, but the files are actually never saved on the memory card. Partitioning the memory card doesn't work either. Gparted shows the whole memory card as «unpartitioned».Read more »»

Fix gmail pushmail fail after ROM-update

Android logoI just updated the ROM on my Android HTC Desire to LeeDroid 3.3.3 the other day. After upgrading, I suddenly noticed that my gmail was no longer being pushed to my phone even though I had heaps of internal memory free. I finally found out that obviously gmail push has problems when settings have been restored using Titanium Backup. I simply had to enable, and then disable the settings to get things to work.Read more »»

Migrate your Symbian S60 SMS-messages to your Android-phone

A couple of days ago I finally received my brand new HTC Desire (featuring a SLCD-screen instead of the OLED and Android 2.2) that I ordered ages ago. Thus I soon will start posting Android stuff here, and as soon as I finish my masters thesis I'll start writing software for Android too (and posting about it here).

One of the first things I decided to do was import SMS from my old Nokia N95-8GB. No need to sync contacts since I decided to do that manually and get rid of a lot of old crap at the same time.Read more »»
